Home Improvement Ideas Catalog
Home improvement ideas for kitchen storage, bathroom safety aids, energy savers, organization systems are things I’m always looking for. It seems there’s alway room for improvement. That’s a given. Things need to be fixed. Others updated. And sometimes it’s adding something entirely new. But where do you start? Well, a great place is with the free catalog Improvements. It is jam packed with ideas for improving your home, inside and out.
Everytime I get a new edition of the catalog, I page through it to get a quick idea of the contents. In doing so, there’ll be at least half dozen products that catch my attention and inspire me to get off the sofa and just do it!
For example, I’m on page 62 of the Winter edition where a pair of Garage Parking Stops are offered. These are the mats you drive onto so you know exactly when to stop rather than hit the back wall or a bike. Each mat has two little speed bumps. You drive over the first so that your front tire finishes between the bumps. A much better design than the one I purchased five years ago. And you get two mats for the same amount I spent for just one. So, that’s an upgrade idea that hit home with me.
Let me site a few more example that work for me. Here’s another upgrade idea. Most everyone has Caller ID. But can you easily see it when the phone rings? Probably not, so you have to squint at you phone’s small display. You can fix that by adding a Large Display Caller ID. The four inch wide display sits next to you phone so you can see who’s called right away.
How about adding a lighted wall sconce where there’s no outlet. Recent technology makes it practical. The LED Candle Wall Sconce runs on three AA batteries. Nine LEDs make it super bright. Simple way to brighten up a dark corner.
Safety aids for the bathroom are now easy to install with the lock-down suction design for various assist bars. Gives you a helping hand for getting in and out of your tub or shower. There’s even a small one that easily packs into your suitcase for travelling. And, for the ladies, there’s a lock-down foot rest that assists your balance when shaving your legs.
Want to cut back on dry cleaning and ironing? Add a Clothes Steamer to your laundry room and you’ll save money and time. There are two versions, hand-held and the professiona unit on easy rolling casters. Both heat up in less than a minute to get things going fast.
I like the section called “furniture that works double-duty”. For the wireless world, there’s a side-table that opens to reveal a hidden charging station inside. There is another side-table with a top that pops up and becomes a convenient work surface. Then there’s an ottoman that converts into a comfortable twin bed.
More unique furniture can be found. For the mud room, the Entryway Shoe Shelf also serves as a bench. It can hold a lot of shoes — three shelves, two of which pull out. Another Entry Bench is loaded with storage hidden under the lift up seat.
